Junzi Kitchen Bleecker Street

A Modern Restaurant Embracing Greenwich Village's Street Life

Junzi Kitchen Bleecker Street is a unique restaurant concept designed by Xuhui Zhang, located in the dynamic neighborhood of Greenwich Village in New York City. The restaurant's design draws inspiration from the vibrant street life of the area, creating a space that reflects the energy and spirit of the community.

Junzi Kitchen is a new-generation restaurant that specializes in serving Northern Chinese wraps and noodle bowls. The Bleecker Street location, which opened in July 2018, covers an impressive 1800 square feet and marks the third outpost of this fast-casual concept. The design of the restaurant aims to capture the essence of Greenwich Village, creating an inviting and dynamic atmosphere for diners.

The core design concept of Junzi Kitchen Bleecker Street is to embrace the all-time dynamic street life of Greenwich Village. The color palettes used in the design avoid traditional and clichéd patterns or symbols, instead opting for simple forms and contrasting colors. This approach creates a visually striking and modern space that stands out from other restaurants in the area.

The realization of the design incorporates various technologies and materials. The countertops feature Dupont's 'Corian' in a sleek white finish, while the dining chairs are provided by Billiani's Take collection. The lighting design includes CRISP wall sconces by Rich Brilliant William and a Saturn Pendant by CVL LUMINAIRES. The floor tiles are a combination of Concrete Collective's Venice Series and Crossville Tile's Mica.

The design team behind Junzi Kitchen Bleecker Street includes lead architect Xuhui Zhang, along with interior designers Andy Chu, Limeng Jiang, and Fran Fang. Xiufang Zhao is responsible for the lighting design, while Ming Bai and Superficial Studio handle the graphic and wayfinding elements. Stool design is credited to Kaichuan Wang, and millwork is provided by MG Concept and Breakfast Woodwork.

The project commenced in January 2018 and was completed in June 2018, both in New York City. The restaurant's design successfully captures the essence of Greenwich Village, creating a space that reflects the vibrant street life and offers a unique dining experience for visitors.

Junzi Kitchen Bleecker Street was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of the design, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The restaurant's design contributes to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place.
